Here’s What People Think About The Specialist Help (...And Advice) They Got From The Level4 Team...
When I first met Dr. Chris Ingstad, I was six weeks post-op after shattering my tibial plateau, luxuriating my patella and spraining both of my ankles. His first question was, "What are your goals?" I responded that within one year, I wanted to do the Death Ride (130 mile cycling event, 15,000 feet of climbing in the California Eastern Sierras) and the Catalina Eco Marathon. Dr. Chris used every moment of that time to heal my wounds, strengthen my body and steel my mind for each challenge. He not only let me slay each goal, but he was at the start and finish of the Eco Marathon last week...one year and one week after the accident. Level4 Physio-Wellness-Performance. "I want to brag about all that they did for her, but it's just too much to write. To sum it up, I can confidently say they went above and beyond. My mom has depression so when it came to the recovery process she had very little motivation. She was ready to give up and accept an arm stuck in flexion. However, I can gladly say that she did not have to settle for that thanks to Level 4. My mom really enjoyed working with them and is even happier with her results. Not only are they very skilled and knowledgeable in their field of work, but they really do care for you as a person. Can't thank them enough!"Kelsey. L 24, Oceanside, CA

"Chris is the best! He gives innovative solutions to this patient when I'm stuck on a "How do I?" question, or when the method always used just doesn't work. I'm from out of town, he saw me for two sessions about a year ago, and then one month ago (three months into recovery from total hip replacement) I worked with him again. For over two hours Chris did strength testing, analyzing, questioning and listening closely to me. Above all, he watched with an eagle eye while I walked, worked, did wall sitting, sideways walks, squats, marches, and all manner of stretches. He solved a couple of stretches I was just not able to do by myself at home - i.e.: working the quads lying face down and using a yoga strap to emulate pulling the heel to the glute while standing. His knowledge of anatomy and methods of muscle isolation and flexation solved several problems I'd been having. At the time I was still in therapy in Texas, and Chris consulted with my DPT to further follow up and assist me in getting my life back. It turns out my Texas therapist is an alum of the college where Chris is a tenured professor, just different campuses. Since we saw him five weeks ago he's called me and Emailed me to check on my status, and he's collaborated with my Texas therapist on a good suggestion she had made. Now, instead of walking 20 minutes twice a day, I'm combining those walks and the endurance is starting to show again. Chris' new facility is wonderful. What's not to like when you encounter representations of the great Lord Shiva all around you! There's a great vibe about the location, the gym, the Yoga practice. Just meeting the staff and colleagues brings home the fact that these guys practice what they preach. I am very grateful to Chris and look forward to seeing him again when we return to California in May. By then I hope to be back 75% from the surgery. In the meantime, if there's any move I can't figure out for myself, I'll not hesitate to get in touch with Chris. He's a keeper!"
"At first you think you can just give it time, and then you realize it isn’t going to go work. Next you do the Google searches to find a decent Physical Therapy and then you realize when the problem is fixed and you’re back working out, that you wish you’d done it much sooner – just go and see Oscar and get it done right away!"Louise 38, Carlsbad, CA
"The team at Level4 Physio, Wellness & Performance is made up of happy, friendly people. And that helps because if you feel good about coming, you respond to treatment better. The physical therapists are very good - I like the fact that the physical therapists get really deep into my muscles to ease the tension – it’s sometimes uncomfortable at first but I like it as that’s what works best for me and it’s what I know I need!Claire 36, Carlsbad
"I’ve been doing CrossFit for 3 years now and love to keep fit, but have suffered from calf, muscular and other injuries…I’ve made the mistake in the past of leaving it too long but Oscar here always gets you back on track and repaired quickly – you’ve got to listen to what he says, you always feel positive with what they do and I like that they advise what you can be doing to prevent it happening again – Physical Therapy at Level4 always works for me."Andy 57, Carlsbad
I heard about Chris Ingstad and Level 4 Performance through a family friend. After having 3 meniscus knee surgeries and one labrum shoulder surgery, before the age of 20, I knew I needed physical therapy that would push me. My shoulder was weak and had limited range of motion after surgery while my knee was restricting me from playing collegiate soccer or running just a few miles. I was going to physical therapy at my local hospital and it was not enough. I needed professional, personalized care and that's what I got with Level 4.
I came to Chris with limited range of motion in my shoulder and pain in my knee. After multiple sessions with him and continuing to do exercises that he gave me to do at home, my shoulder got stronger and the range of motion improved, while the muscles around my knee got stronger which took pressure off my meniscus. I am an active college guy who loves to work out and play sports. I was not settling for limiting my activities because of injuries.
Today I am running twice a week, can bust out 15-20 pull ups, 70 push-ups and can play a pickup game of soccer. Still to this day I remember the exercises Chris gave me and I perform them often. If you perform the exercises he gives you to do at home, YOU WILL GET BETTER! You get what you put into it, don't dog it. Not only does he improve your quality of life, but he focuses on getting you back to what you love to do. He is a personable guy and still stays in touch with me. Chris pushed my body and my mind to do anything and he will do the same for you. Thank you, Chris, for all you have done, you are the man.Martin D. 22, Coronado, CA
Awesome people! I came in with a herniated disc a few months ago and feeling very frustrated and ready to give up. Dr. Oscar assured me that I could get back to doing the sport that I love. I trusted him and the process and did the work he prescribed. I learned a lot, feeling so much better, and am back at the sport I love. Thank you so much!Jeannie Carlsbad, CA
"Not sure why, but I waited months before going to see the Level4 team. My neck and shoulder just kept hurting when I was working or playing and running around with my kids. My first physical therapist that was covered under my insurance plan said he couldn’t help me because I needed surgery - I refused and a friend told me about Level4. It was such a relief to find out what was wrong and Dr. Oscar told me that in about the first 3-4 minutes of seeing him. Don’t make the mistake I did, just go and get physical therapy with the team at Level4 ASAP."Kelly 32, Vista
"I was a bit frightened about going at first but after the treatments I received at Level4 Physio, Wellness & Performance I was able to play golf again for the first time in 10 years without a back support. I tried physical therapy someone else first but it didn’t work, so I thought nothing could be done but now I know I got that decision wrong and I wish I’d made the decision to go and see the team at Level4 earlier because they got me active and pain free again within weeks."Brent 57, Rancho Santa Fe
"Level4 PT was highly recommended to me after I had a rotator cuff injury. So relieved I made the decision to bypass the emergency room when the injury happened. Upon arriving at Level 4, I was immediately cared for in a professional manner to help relieve the intense pain (that went away with less than a week) and began doing recommended exercises to slowly get my full mobility back in the shoulder within 3 mos. (During my PT, they also alleviated the pain I was experiencing in my neck for the past fews years from another injury). I am so happy to be completely painfree and also got my shoulder mobility back. I encourage anyone to visit Level4 PT before anything else! Thank you again to Chris and Oscar and the whole team at Level4."Melissa. D 50, Coronado
"You think you can sort it out for yourself, it comes and goes, but there comes a point when you think, well, I’ve been missing out now for 6 weeks, I’ve got to go and do something to get it looked at properly. Oscar and his team have helped with Shoulder and Knee problems and get me going again quicker than any other way I’ve tried.Dave 45, Encinitas
"Absolute best PT in town. Pains that I never thought would go away, resolved. You won't be disappointed."Mike V.
"He and his partners know all about sports medicine and will help anyone to get back to their best shape."Alfredo B.
"As much as the physical therapy service has been excellent, I’ve asked the physical therapists a million questions and got answers and that’s really helped…I had a torn Achilles Tendon Injury…my Dad and my brother had previously been here at Level4 Physio-Wellness-Performance and told me to come…I’m so glad I did, I wasn’t getting anywhere with the first physical therapist I was with at the hospital’s outpatient department and now I’m really happy with everything the Level4 team did for me."Jane 36, Cardiff
"I was a bit skeptical about going at first but after the treatments I received at Level4 I was able to play tennis again without a knee support and I'm now able to go up and down stairs without pain for the first time in 5 and a half years. I did have physical therapy someone else at first but the experience is nothing like here. I wish I came to Level4 first rather than where my doctor referred me to - it was a waste of my time. I wish I knew about the team at Level4 earlier because they got me active and pain free again within a few visits."Valerie 27, Encinitas
"I was a bit frightened about going at first but after the treatments I received at Level4 I was able to surf again without shoulder pain for the first time in almost a year following my shoulder surgery. I originally tried my "in-network" insurance for two and a half months following my surgery and I knew something was wrong because I still couldn't get my arm higher than my stomach. A family member recommended Level4 and within in 6 visits Dr. Oscar got me moving my arm overhead. I wish I’d made the decision to go and see the team at Level4 earlier because they got me active and pain free again within weeks."Daniel 41, Encinitas
"Dawn’s Pilates classes are FAB! They are really easy to follow and she takes the time to actually walk around and show you how to do each one. I always get the feeling that she cares enough to have thought about all of the exercises she gives you… and that makes you feel more confident and sure that they are going to make a difference like you hope."Connie Age 42, Del Mar
"Chris Ingstad has been helping me for the last 7 years. He knows what he is doing. One of the best in town! Thank you!"Rafael D.
"I tried various other osteopaths and chiropractors but they didn’t do much to help me…The Level4 team got to the root cause of my knee problem and I’ve left feeling as happy and healthy as I have done in years."Carol 49, Del Mar
"I went to another PT clinic which didn’t help me at all and it was my co-worker who started asking around and we got recommended to see Dawn…she and all the team are great and she helped me get over my pelvic pain. Thank you."Tonya 43, Carlsbad
"My problems with pelvic girdle pain started at 20 weeks – and only got worse. The doctor told me it would just go away, but that didn’t happen. I was recommended to see Dawn by someone at work and I told her my priority was to be able to lift my child without pain. I did that and now I’m feeling much better than I ever thought possible."Jennifer Age 32, Vista
"I suffered for 7 months before Dawn was recommended to me – I felt better instantly just from knowing that someone actually knew and understood what I was going through."Sarah Age 29, Encinitas

I've improved in a lot of things... speed, strength and just my mentality has grown a lot about wanting to play soccer and wanting to beat people... So this place has really helped me with that. It's a great program and you learn a lot about physical therapy and the stuff that they do, as well as get stronger and improve yourself in your mentalities. I obviously gained some more pounds and got stronger on the ball and I noticed throughout the weeks that we were doing it that I was bumping people off the ball easier and I was getting into tackles harder and I was putting up a fight more than what I used to. Thank you!!Titus Carlsbad, CA High School Soccer Forward
"I waited because I just didn’t know what to do – the other PT clinic didn’t help me at all and it was my Mom who started asking around and we got recommended to see Dawn…she and all the team are great and really helped me over my back pain. Thank you. "Amy 34, Carlsbad
